VRS started in 1992 as a spin off from Dagali Rafting, owned by Eivind Scharffenberg and managed by Frode Solbakk.
In Frode 1995 Frode, together with Jan Erik Short and David Monaghan bough the company – The new company was organized as a limited company – Voss Rafting Senter AS. The company profile grew rapidly as a more extreme alternative to other rivers in Norway, and could boast to have the best instructors in Norway.
In 1998 VRS started the PepsMax-Week, this has advanced to become the famous Ekstremsportveko, which is held at the end of June each year. The company has also in other ways been involved in developing and marketing Voss as an attractive destination and an extreme playground of Norway. We started a National Amateur Raft Race in 2001, which became become an annual event – and we have been involved in several TV productions, including – ’71’North’, ‘Lonely Planet’, ‘Time For Travel’, ‘Tomorrows World’ and ‘Around Norway’.
The company has been expanding ever since its inception and currently offers over 15 different activities. Our equipment is up to date and we have fantastic staff who do their utmost to make guests feel at home.
In 2004 we moved to our Base in Skulestadmo and in 2005 we added the Årestove, a Viking style restaurant – This now means we offer a unique atmosphere run from a modern Rafting centre with all the creature comforts!
