Quality and Safety

Safety is No Accident

After a number of rafting accidents on the Sjoa River in the end of the 1980’s and the beginning of the 1990’s, our manager, Frode Solbakk, took the initiative to set down a new and updated version of internal regulations for rafting safety awareness in Norway. At the same time due to these accidents, the state came out with a general set of rules guidelines and regulations for rafting companies to abide by.

VRS has since been strongly active in bettering our safety procedures to give customers not only a fun experience, but safe adventure in all of our activities. VRS was the first rafting company to have full responsibility insurance for all of our activities. VRS’s active focus on safety has earned us certified competence to arrange tours for the Naval Defence in Bergen from their High Command. VRS has over the years held safety courses for Bergen Fire Dept, Red Cross, safety training for Esso-Exxonmobil, and also been involved in several rescues in the Hordaland district.

VRS takes our hole operation seriously, and safety of our customers is of utmost concern. We also pride ourselves on having zero fatalities since the inception of VRS.
